The Ex-students, class of 1985 of Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Bangem have undertaken a milestone project to boost technology knowledge of the school.
The Class representatives who were at the school campus in Bangem September 25-27, 2025, is funding the installation and operationalization of a student-centered coding and robotics makerspace at GBHS Bangem, creating avenue for youths to develop high-value skills, lead digital-tech innovation, entrepreneurship and use mathematics to solve real-life problems.
Contacted by phone, Dr.Ephraim Abwe Diabe (Cameroon’s Community Volunteer in-Chief and Coordinator of BEST85) informed Eco-outlook that the Coding and Robotics Makerspace in GBHS Bangem is a first step in a long journey of transforming Bangem City (once an epicentre of violence) into a digital-tech innovations hotspot-a kind of Silicon Valley of the South West Region
According to Dr Abwe Diabe Ephraim ,one of the BEST85 class member, the ongoing project which is valued at over 2million cfa, will be officially launched during the December meeting in Bangem and is done in collaboration with Bliss Global Tech House .
 The Bliss Global Tech House was in GBHS Bangem Wednesday for the training of facilitators, student focal points. There was also training on Thursday, Friday and Saturday by a Bliss Global partner Engineer and Expert in Coding and Robotics.The Principal of GBHS Mr. Nkwelle Cletus Sume thanked BEST85 and the implementing partner Bliss Global for giving his school the opportunity to kick-start such a lofty vision of digital-tech innovation in Bangem. An initiative that benefits both science and arts students of both English and French expression. He says the implantation phase went successfully and they look up to December 2025 for official commissioning. Meanwhile, training of student focal points proceeds at GBHS Bangem.
