Bangem Mayor buries mother in Nyan.

 Family, friends, and other mourners turned out on Saturday June 22,2024 to bury Mama Cecilia Munge Ekungwe,mother of the mayor of Bangem council, Ekungwe Christopher Kang.

The burial ceremony took place in Nyan village, Bangem, KupeMuanenguba division, characterized by church service, view and streaming by the coffin , traditional rites, burial, entertainment and departure of mourners.

 Close to five hundred mourners from far and near joined the mayor to lay the mother to her final resting place. In the funeral mass, the presiding priest, Rev. Joseph Ekiti said the deceased was a fervent Christian who lived an exemplary life, humble, kind and friendly. ” She was first and foremost a wife, mother and family person who showed love to her own and those around her” the priest said. 

 In his homily the priest said Christians have to thank God in all circumstances including death.  

 Eulogies to bid the deceased farewell came from the family, friends and church.                   

The mayor wished the mother well in the blossom of the Lord. “We miss you, we remember you,we love you but God the Almighty loves you most” he said.

He noted that the departed mother was very compassionate and showed great concern for the well-being of others. 

According to the mayor her departure has created a huge vacuum in the family that cannot be filled.

The deceased Cecilia Munge Ekungwe was born in 1935 in Muakwe village and got married to the late Michael Ekungwe with who they had seven children. She leaves behind her children, grand children and great grandchildren to mourn her. 

Among mourners at the ceremony were dignitaries from Nyan village like General Ekungwese Divine Nnoko, the deputy director general of MAETUR Mbong Michael Mbine, traditional rulers,the judiciary and security officials from Kupemuanenguba, and Bangem council workers.
