Dr Mesame Mwene Betty Best, CEO of the Academy of Health Sciences, Yaounde is among the few African scientific reserachers who have been distinguished and upgraded at the 2024 session of the African-French-Arab Council for Scientific Promotion, dubbed “CAFAC”.
The activities of the African-French-Arab Council for Scientific Promotion, dubbed “CAFAC” in French was officially launched in Cameroon under the patronage of the Minister of higher education, Jacque Fame Ndongo 13 September, 2024 under the theme ” Promoting inclusive science to reinforce development and South- South Cooperation”
In the presence of high-level scientific, academic figures the official launch saw the recognition and promotion of some distinguished scientific researchers to higher grades.
A good number of scientists and researchers from Cameroon, Gabon, Bénin Mali were promoted to the rank of assistant professor and associate professor, and professor of the first rank.
According to higher education officials the official launch in Cameroon of the prestigious scientific council that promotes academic excellence in research in Africa and the Arab world was timely given the dynamism, strengths and relevance of the results of the work of Cameroon researchers. The support from the council it was disclosed will make Cameroon a platform for scientific collaboration in the Central African region.
Experts say Africa needs quality researchers whose work should be internationally recognized and compensated. The officials said the Council also had a working session to evaluate the progress and challenges of research in African Universities
