By Cyprain Bekhali
“Weeping may endure for a night,” the psalmist say , “ but joy cometh in the morning”. Indeed the night has been long and tearful in the PCC as attacks against the church of Christ have been on the steam but God being faithful, the light of dawn is peeping through with Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia and Rev Ayuk Solomon Eta taking the leadership as moderator and synod clerk of the Presbyterian Church In Cameroon, PCC.
Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia and Rev. Ayuk Solomon Eta are now poised to grow and reshape one of the largest indigenous church in Cameroon. During the induction and institution rituals the outgone moderator Rev. Dr Fonki Samuel Forba challenged Miki to go forth and be the change what the christians want to see in the PCC as he transferred the pectoral cross worn by the moderator to symbolize his authority as head of the church.
In his induction homily the Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia enjoined all PCC Christians to demonstrate unconditional reconciliation in the church while asking Christians and laity to accommodate one another despite their flaws.
He hinged his five year mandate on strengthening, edifying: a call to Consolidate and accommodate each other.
Miki promised of no radical brakes because the foundation of the church has been built on a solid foundation , assuring Presbyterians that his mandate will be building on the old foundation but using new bricks.
Miki then used his powers as Moderator to institute and induct Rev. Ayuk Solomon Eta as Synod Clerk of the PCC in accordance with the constitution of the church. Their institution and induction preparations were marked by a trail of activities amongst them signing of the Power of Attorney by Moderator elect, prayers, retreats .
The event was attended by a plethora of government officials and representatives amongst them : Minister of Supreme State Audit Mbah Rose Acha, Senator Tabe Tando, Governor of the south West region Bernard Okalia Bilai, Member of parliament Osih Joshua, traditional rulers led by the paramount Fon of the Bafaws Fon Mukete VI .
The inductees used the occasion to raise funds for the construction of Block B of the Synod Office
THE CHALLENGE
Miki and Ayuk are taking leadership of the church at a time the socio-political crises in the North West and South West regions is still reeling on. The crisis which has led to the shutting down of many PCC Congregations will demand that the new church head sought ways through prayers to restore peace and normalcy.
A laity who demanded anonymity said that the Voices of oppositions within the church which were heard before November 2024 church elections have been calm in the past months. This is testament as over 600 ordained pastors and Christian converge at the esplanade of PCSS Buea to commemorate this remarkable milestone in the life of the church.
