SWECC Launches Preparations for 2nd Edition South West Cultural Festival

The South West Chiefs’ Conference (SWECC) has announced it is expecting massive participation in the second edition of the Southwest Cultural Festivities.

The three-day festival is scheduled to run from December 12th to 14th in Buea under the theme

 “ Showcasing Cultural Identity and Consolidating Peace and Entrepreneurial Consciousness.”

This was announced at a press briefing by SWECC officials in Buea APRIL 12, 2025.

The 2025 Cultural festival according to the organizing committee headed by  Chief Mokube John is the second after the maiden edition in 2024, to showcase the rich cultural wealth of the people of the Southwest and map strategies to its contribution to development.

“ We are expecting a huge turnout  especially by youths and women who are going to not only showcase their cultural talent but also learn skills that will empower them to become independent tomorrow with gainful self employment,” chief Mokube said.

This year’s edition accordingly will see the introduction of news activities like cultural dances, display of varied traditional dishes and a cultural parade.

SWECC PRO Chief Ebong Pende says the annual cultural jamboree will continue to enhance peace and development in the region.

“ This is part of efforts by the Souwest Chiefs to enhance peace and development in the region,” Ebong Pende said.

 The much reverred Bakossi “Ahon”  secret society was part of the maiden edition in 2024.
