The Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) has provided back-to-school financial support worth FCFA 2 million to 22 children of some 10 deceased members across five chapters nationwide.

According to a press release from CAMASEJ National president, Jude Viban, the initiative is part of CAMASEJ’s commitment to stand with the families of its deceased members, ensuring that their children continue to access education despite the challenges.

Each child will receive FCFA 75,000 to assist with school fees, books, and related expenses for the 2025/2026 academic year. The funds will be channeled through Chapter Presidents for onward transmission.

Speaking on the initiative, CAMASEJ National President Viban Jude emphasised on the need for professional solidarity and commitment of the association to encourage back to school especially in the crisis hit Anglophone regions of Northwest and Southwest.

“This back-to-school support reflects our solidarity as a family of journalists. While our colleagues may be gone, we remain committed to ensuring their children are not forgotten,” he said.

CAMASEJ counts on the benevolence of partners and members of goodwill in sustaining this initiative, which provides dignity and hope to children of colleagues who dedicated their lives to the profession.
