SW population gearing up to celebrate groundbreaking 2nd edition of their Cultural Jamboree.
Preparations for the ground breaking second edition of the Southwest Cultural Festival enters the finishing phase this week.
The various committees are cutting the Ts and dotting the Is to make the celebrations a huge success.
It should be noted that the Second Edition of the Southwest Cultural Activities was officially moved from December 2025 Â to take place on the 27th and 28th of February, 2026.
This highly anticipated two-day cultural event aims to build on the successes recorded during the maiden edition while further deepening the appreciation, preservation, and promotion of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the South-West Region, a release from the organisers said.
The 2026 edition is designed as a vibrant platform that will bring together traditional authorities, cultural custodians, artists, scholars, youth groups, creatives, and members of the general public from within and beyond the region.
“Through a carefully curated program, the event will showcase the region’s identity, history, values, and artistic expressions while fostering unity, inter-cultural dialogue, and sustainable cultural development.
Activities scheduled for the event include traditional dances and music performances, cultural exhibitions, fashion and heritage displays, storytelling sessions, culinary showcases of indigenous cuisine, arts and crafts exhibitions, and panel discussions on cultural preservation and innovation. Special emphasis will be placed on youth participation, ensuring the transmission of cultural values and traditions to future generations.
Beyond celebration, the Second Edition of the Southwest Cultural Activities seeks to serve as a catalyst for tourism promotion, community empowerment, and creative industry growth. It will provide opportunities for networking, cultural exchange, and economic engagement for artisans, performers, designers, and cultural entrepreneurs.
