The 1979 class of GSS/GHS Nyasoso Ex-Students, ‘NEXSA79’, have wrapped up their 2026 general assembly in Tiko, April 11, 2026, laying the blueprint for stronger and fruitful bond, rolling out plan of action to better assist their Alma Mater.
The 1979 class and sixth batch of the famous GSS Nyasoso, now GHS, respected tradition of their annual congregation to fine tune their vision of walking together and mission to “ Laugh and cry together till the last man standing.”
For “79ners’ as they call themselves, coming together as an alumni for reconnection with former classmates is of profound importance, fostering and reinforcing shared identity, exhuming old bones/nostalgia and the pride among former classmates.
For the President of NEXSA 79 class Barrister Mbanya Bolivie Petnga, “ apart from charting the way forward for the group,coming together as classmates permit also for reconnection andrebuilding old bonds.”
At the 2026 AGM in Tiko, the President welcomed members, emphasizing on the need for solidarity among them.
“There’s need for members to have a sense of belonging by promptly paying their dues as that is what guarantees membership,” he said.
Resolutions reached at the AGM included the need to purge out inactive members who have over the years not complied with the financial exigencies of the group. Such-like ones were given till December 2026 to comply or be evicted from the group (forum).
All members must be dressed in the appropriately styled 79ner uniform during official outings or ceremonies. This is most important for the girls who delight in fanciful styles, the group resolved.
A committee of 3 was assigned to explore possibilities of securing burial insurance policy for the group. They ressolved to take a Funeral Insurance policy beginning this 2026.
Before the AGM deliberations proper, members paid an early morning field visit to PLANTECAM in Mutengene.
Members learned that PLANTECAM is a complex institution that renders diversed services such as Healthcare, Education, Pharmacology and cultivation of medicinal plants, Pharmaceutical as well as medical logistics to the public.
Attendees were also treated to a brief talk on group member Burial Insurance Policy by an Agent from Beneficial Life Insurance.
79ner Rev Father Tubuo Ernest Celebrate 30 years of priesthood.
A major highlight at the Tiko AGM was when 79ners Joined their mate Rev Father Tubuo Ernest, Principal of Secred Heart College to Celebrate 30 years of priesthood.
A special Mug( cup) bearing his effigy was produced by 79ners to immortalize the celebrations. Each attendee went home with a mug for keeps.
The Tiko AGM 2026 hosted by Great Nganchi Pamela and Great Ekang Roseline.
One of the host lauded members for sparing their very busy schedule traveling far and near for the session.
“The AGM was well prepared for ; the attendance was very impressive as has always been for Tiko. Deliberations took resolutions that solved the issue hosting. Communing with mates is a much anticipated event no one will want to miss. We had much fun and an excursion to the Baptist Medical Complex that was so impactful,” Pamela said.
For Kang Janette Epede, union is a force, calling on classmates to uphold the strong bond.
“I really appreciate our efforts come together annually with so much love and concern towards one another. To me it shows great regard towards our group despite our differences in profession, distance etc. Union is force and with that we can brave all difficulties. The meals were sumptuous, drinks from our President, John and Cletus made merry making so fascinating. It was all fun indeed it was,” she said.
The next rendezvous 2027 has been planned for Limbe.
