The elective conference of traditional rulers of the Kupe-Muanenguba division has been scheduled for October 30–31, 2026, in Tombel, the headquarters of the Tombel subdivision in the Southwest Region.
This pivotal event brings together traditional rulers and dignitaries from the division’s three subdivisions (Bangem, Tombel, and Nguti).
Its primary objectives include to renew the executive.
This elective session serves to elect new leadership for the conference, either by replacing the incumbent team or renewing its mandate.
It will also push on consolidating peace and security in the division.
In light of the socio-political challenges facing the region, these traditional rulers—who act as custodians of tradition and key intermediaries with the administration say they are determined to strengthen local stability, foster collaboration with security forces, and promote a definitive return to peace.
It should be recalled that KupeMuanenguba is a shining example of returned to normalcy since the crisis in Northwest and Southwest started.
The traditional rulers are meeting two weeks after the official launch of community dialogue in Bangem KupeMuanenguba, to join their voice to that of Minister Elung Paul Che on the need to consolidate the peace that reigns in the division as a gateway to development.
According to the Chiefs their discussions in Tombel will also focus on major infrastructure projects within the division (such as the rehabilitation of road networks) Bangem -Nguti, Tombel- Bangem and on fostering unity among the elite to drive the community’s socio-economic progress.
The KupeMuanenguba Chiefs in a meeting with the Prime Minister Chief Dion Ngute few months ago, tabled the worrying problem of very bad state of roads in the division, calling for prompt goverment action.
It is hoped that work on the Bangem-Nguti road approved by President Paul Biya that started last year will continue after the ongoing rainy period.
