At 2025 AGM in Buea; NEXSA 6th Batch Review Strides, roll out future projects.

The alumni of the 1979-84 Class(6th Batch) of Government High School (GHS) Nyassoso, Tombel in the South West Region of Cameroon wrapped up their 2025 Annual General Assembly meeting in Buea.

The batch’s president, Hon Mbanya Bolivie Petnga chaired the come together May 31st, 2025 at the residence of the Tendonge’s.

The Buea AGM provided the opportunity for members to update/review their Internal Rules and Regulation,IRR , reflect on past projects/achievements and lay the bleuprint for the future.

For the planned elections, the general assembly unanimously gave the current executive another one year to begin implementing some of the changes in the reviewed IRR.

Besides reminiscing the past with fun stories, the Buea AGM was also an avenue for the former students to look and give back to the institution that molded them.

 In this light some 405.000 fcfa was raised to assist their alma mater’s ongoing solar energy project.

For relaxation members visited the Reunification Monument and the Endeley Memorial/ Wall of Fame.

Our Powerful Buea Host team( Ayuk Mathias, Bide Catherine, Dorothy Forsac, Mbeng Mary, Nasako Regina, Zemoh Pius) provided the enabling environment for 79ners to unwind.

And the all night dance was just wonderful. President Mbanya excitedly joined in the dance.

Income generation for the group

It should be recalled that the 79ners, as the group is fondly called has as vision; “None will walk alone,” with a mission “ To laugh and cry together till the last man standing”

It is against this backdrop that in solidarity they stand for each other in sadness like in happiness.

They are in this light already envisaging prospects of investing in land purchase as income generating venture to permit the group have the means to function better. During the Buea meeting, members were unanimous that the scheme be taken seriously. This, they said, will fetch more revenue for the group, which of course will also be used to assist their alma mater.

 “Given that the value of land increases over time, land purchased and sold with time will fetch more revenue for the group,” Dr Dorothy Forsac pointed out.

 The president of the 79ners explained that the aim of this type of investment is to raise funds to meet up with the different commitments of the group including to give back to their alma mater.

 “So, we would have some funds in our coffers to support our needy members and our alma mater,” Bolivie said.

Earlier, the lead host, and treasurer of the group Nasako Regina Effana, Epouse Tendonge praised members for their efforts, including material and financial contributions to the successful hosting of the Annual General Assembly.

Participants came from various towns including  Yaounde, Buea, Limbe, Tiko, Douala, Kumba.

 The members expressed gratitude to the host chapter for what they said was a delightful reception with each of them taking back home a souvenir package.

An all night party at the residence of the host permitted members to flex their muscles with old timers music of their school days.

The fun was just amazing, they all testfied

Their parting words as they left from Buea were, “see you in Tiko”, where they plan to hold their next Annual General Assembly in 2026 

And the “ball a terres”  with dexterity were many. ‘Oh! there’s life in music,” says Dr Ehabe Eugene as he takes to the floor with Dr Balbina Mesame.
