NCPBM achieved 90% rate execution of 2025 plan of action, Plans to Scale up in 2026.

The President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM), Peter Mafany Musonge, has touted the achievements of the institution that scored a 90% rate in the execution of its 2025 plan of action.

 He pointed out at the ceremony to receive New year wishes from staff of the commission emphasizing on the need to scale up the achievements in 2026.

 The event held at the Yaoundé Conference Centre January 30, 2026.

The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) achieved a 90% rate in the execution of the 2025 plan of action. Fighting hate speech and xenophobia in schools before, during and after the 2025 presidential elections, fieldwork to monitor and implement the national policy on the use of Cameroon’s official languages in some  schools in eight cities in Cameroon  and five diplomatic missions abroad are among the strides made in 2025.

As the Commission kick-starts a new year, the President of the NCPBM, Peter Mafany Musonge calls on all staff to put hands on deck for a 100% achievement rate in 2026.

 He made the call while addressing staff of the commission as they converged on the Yaoundé Conference Centre for the traditional new year wishes ceremony.

The camaraderie of the occasion was matched with a high sense of professional probity with CPBM rolling out its achievements in the year 2025. The Secretary General Dr. Chi Asafor Cornelius listed among others, field trips  to multiple entities, activities at the regional headquarters, visit to some state universities, visit to security training and defense institutions, visit to  Cameroonian diplomatic representations in Abuja, Pretoria, Brussels, Benin, London, Paris and Washington DC. These visits were done to monitor the implementation of official languages and evaluate the practice of bilingualism. The NCPBM in 2025 also organized capacity building seminars for it’s staff, members of the public and public institutions. It printed and distributed two thousand booklets on its mission and the importance of bilingualism and also participated in the Fair on Government Action (SAGO) where it earned a trophy for fighting hate speech. All these actions helped in the fight against xenophobia, contributed to peace and nationhood, the SG said.

He saluted the conviviality among staff, a tenet that was demonstrated at the burial of the late CPBM member David ABOUEM a TCHOYI with the entire Commission converging in Kiki village in Mbam & Inoubou, division to pay their last respect to the fallen hero.

According to the Secretary General, the CPBM scored over 90% in the implementation of their action plan during the 2025 financial year.

Then followed the hand shake ritual first by the members of the commission and then the staff beginning with the Secretary General Dr. Chi Asafor Cornelius, the Vice President Mr Oumarou Djika Saidou, the other members, staff and invited guests. The staff of the NCPBM, offered a gift to the President.

The ceremony was graced by some cultural animation featuring dance groups and musicians like Dina Bell.
