DO of Idabato-Ndian, Ewane Roland
The Divisional Officer of Idabato in Ndian Division in the Southwest is reported to have been kidnapped this early Tuesday morning of 1st October, 2024 by armed men believed to be separatists fighters. He was kidnapped together with Mr Etongo Ismael, staff of the Idabato council.
The Kidnappers according to the SDO for Ndian, Gilbert Gibai, took the direction towards Nigeria, onboard a flying boat.
They are reported to have been forced away at gun point by the kidnapapers via Nigeria to an unknown destination.
Reports from the Cameroon BIR say search of the abductors in the high sea has not yielded any fruits yet.
Idabato is one of the communities in the Bakassi Peninsula with a predominantly fishing population.
A message from the SDO of Ndian division to the Nigerian Consul General in Buea has called for collaboration from the Nigerian security in the search of the abductors in line with the cross-border military cooperation between the two countries.
