MBARGA NGUELE Dismisses Littoral Regional DIRECTOR of JUDICIAL POLICE for Alleged DRUG TRAFFICKING

The Director General of National Security, Martin Mbarga NGUELE, has dismissed the Head of the Littoral Regional Division of the Judicial Police, OUMAROU, suspected of embezzling a seized shipment of drugs valued at 600 million FCFA.

Reports say drugs that were seized and impounded mysteriously disappeared when it was time to burn the stockpile.

Members of the judicial police, who were threatened with dismissal from the force, pointed accusing fingers on their superior, Divisional Commissioner OUMAROU.

Reports say rather than overseeing the mandatory destruction of the substances, the director allegedly diverted the drugs to the black market, pocketing an estimated 30 million FCFA.

The dismissal adds significant weight to recent warnings from Minister of Finance Louis Paul Motaze. Speaking Tuesday during a large-scale incineration of seized contraband, Motaze criticized a lack of inter-departmental cooperation, stating that “some departments” have effectively allowed illegal drugs to circulate within the country by failing to coordinate with oversight authorities.
