High Stakes Ordinary Session of Parliament Opened Today.

Cameroon’s National Assembly Speaker, Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, convened an ordinary session of parliament to beginning today Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

This session is considered critical as it may be the final gathering for the current legislature, with Municipal and Legislative elections anticipated shortly after, or potentially delayed due to ongoing political and financial pressures. Preparations, led by Secretary General Essian André Noël, were finalized on March 2, 2026.

Reports say it is the last planned ordinary session before the scheduled end of the current legislative term (previously extended to March 30, 2026).

It is also likely to see some constitutional amendments tabled that will shape Cameroon’s political future.

The session is expected to address key national issues, including the potential further extension of parliamentary terms due to financial constraints and a tense political atmosphere.

Meanwhile the Right Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, has officially launched the creation of the National Assembly TV and Radio Stations. These broadcast stations aim to modernize and optimize the communication of the activities of the National Assembly in general and that of MPs in particular.
