There has been intensified insecurity in the crisis regions of the Northwest and Southwest of Cameroon as security mount hunt for suspected supporters of separatist fighters, especially teachers and lawyers accused to have triggered the Anglophone crisis in 2016 following their protest.
Human rights report say many Cameroon Anglophone youths who were involved in the crisis either directly as separatists fighters or supporters have fled from their different abode for safety as they have become prime targets by security forces in the wake of the ongoing Anglophone Crisis in the Northwest and Southwest of Cameroon.
This crackdown reflects escalating tensions between government security forces and Anglophones fighting for Ambazonia liberation, a prominent organization within the Anglophone movements advocating for self-determination.
Hunt for suspected supporters of SEPARATISTS FIGHTERS
Eco OULOOK gathered that many lawyers and teachers suspected to be supporters of separatist fighters are being hunted by security.
Eye witness account say one of them, Hilda Ebude Simen, a paralegal of the Belize Chambers, fons Street, Bamenda ,who has severally been arrested and detained is now on the run.
According to our sources Hilda Ebude Simen and other colleagues were on October 1, 2021 arrested by the military during a raid, subjected to torture and put under inhuman treatment at detention camps.
Thanks to the intervention of a good Samaritan who apparently bribed security, she managed to escape on November 25, 2021.
Family sources say a warrant of arrest was issued to many of the detained lawyers including Hilda Ebude who we gathered had esco-ped to Nigeria, December 15, 2022
Many victims in the same circumstances have lost their lives since the Anglophone crisis began in 2016.
It should be recalled that the Anglophone crisis that started in 2016 and degenerated into fierce battle between security forces and separatists has led to the arrest and killing of thousands of persons of all ages.
Human Rights report say security forces have been carrying out persistent raid arresting especially youths and others believed to be supporters of separatist movement in the country while separatists fighters have been killing those they considers as black legs in the struggle.
