BRDA elite at home and abroad push to revamp their lone secondary school, GSS Ekanjoh-Bajoh,Bangem

Elite of  the Bajoh Rural Development Association, BRDA, abroad and at home are concerned about the lone secondary school in Ekanjoh-Bajoh on the verge of collapse and in dire need of rejuvenation.

The secondary school that went moribund following the Anglophone crisis the elite say, must now be revamped given the improved security and abated hostile environment.

It is against this backdrop that the Diaspora elite in a meeting resolved to mobilize efforts to address the situation and bail their lone secondary school from disappearance.

“We understood that the school is at the verge of being closed due to the nonregistration of students and the absence of teachers. A chicken and egg situation that we are dealing with. We also understood that a few of our Bajoh elites went to the village to sensitize the parents and make them understand the consequences of closing the school. We were therefore eager to speak with the elites who went to Ekanjoh, to understand what role the Diaspora can play in alleviating the situation.

Fortunately,  the Chief of Ekanjoh-Bajoh was part of the virtual meeting. As a way of motivating parents to send their children to the school, we promised to give scholarship to the students who will be registered for the 2024/25 academic year, with a possibility of continuing the initiative in future. We also promised to provide books, past exam questions and a digital technology space in future, so that the students will be well prepared to face future official Government exams,” Patrick Alobwede, coordinator of  BRDA, Diaspora branch told Eco OUTLOOK.

He expressed satisfaction that the Ekanjoh-Bajoh Chief promised to sensitize his colleagues and the population for quick action.

At the same time a few of BRDA elites are in discussion with the principal of the college, requesting that he  return to Ekanjoh with his staff, so that admission should start, he said.

“Encouraging education should be a key development initiative for any elite or people with good intention. This school has been crumbling for years and BRDA as a group has stayed blatantly silent. We should put our hands together and support the effective take off of the 2024/25 school year,” he appealed.

Some 2 million fcfa has been raised already  thanks to voluntary donations of some few brothers and sisters of BRDA but the elite say this is quite insufficient, calling on the entire BRDA body and other goodwill persons in and out of KupeMuanenguba to lend a supporting hand.

BRDA National President Sumbele Felix Mbwoge also added his voice to the appeal for support to what he described as ” A lofty initiative coming from our brothers from the Diaspora.

” We are glad our brothers came up with the initiave to support the revamping of the important academic citadel in our community. I think the entire BRDA and other well wishers should join hands to support the initiative” Sumbele told Eco-OUTLOOK.
