As the 2025 Presidential elections inches, some potential Presidential aspirants are already rolling out their political agenda. This is the case for United Social Democratic Party, USDP, of Prince Michael Ekosso Ngwesse.
In a press briefing at Franco Hotel Yaounde September 12 , 2024, the Presidential aspirant Prince Ekosso presented the economic, political and social programe of his party.
He noted that Cameroon is a country with a rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty and natural resources.
Unfortunately the country was facing unprecedented challenges like economic hardship , social injustice, for which the Cameroonian people are demanding change.
In the economic field he said Cameroon’s economy is stagnant, with high levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality. USDP intends to rebrand the country’s agriculture which is the backbone of the economy.
“ We intend to modernize Cameroon’s agriculture with up to date technology, giving the youths the necessary training and financial support to embrace agriculture” he said.
Promoting the growth of the private sector through tax incentives he said will bail the economy from its present quagmire.
The party hope to stop social Injustices by fighting against corruption, human rights abuses, and the marginalization of minority groups. Its programme also envisages equal opportunity for women and youths in all areas of activities in the country.
Priority will be given to technical education to promote self employment and industrialization of the economy. This he said will bring an end to the public service mentally that is presently draining the state.
Technical education he said is becoming increasingly important in today’s economy as technology continues to advance and industries become more complex. Technical education provides individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to work in specific fields and industries, which can lead to immediate employment opportunities and higher earning potential.
“It also plays a vital role in driving economic growth and development, bridging the skills gap in the workforce, and empowering individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds,” he said.
In the health sector USDP will ensure a health insurance policy for all Cameroonians to help the poor.
Provide health facility with every federal region taking care of its health structures and services, education, and transportation systems to promote development.
Technology is transforming how health care is delivered in Africa, giving more people in remote areas there and around the world access to better care. Likewise, easier access to data helps both doctors and policymakers make better-informed decisions about how to continue to improve the system.
The health care professionals on the ground know their frustrations firsthand with counterfeit pharmaceuticals, with sweltering medical clinics limping along without the much needed medical equipment.
“ USDP will put an end to all these frustrations,” he said.
It is against this backdrop that USDP hope enough investment will be carried out in providing health infrastructure equipped with adequate technology.
Political Instability USDP advocates for a federal system that respects the two inherited cultures of French and English.
Prince Ekosso says he is a visionary leader passionate about Cameroon’s prosperity.
