The lives of Abducted DO of Idabato, Ewane Roland and that of Etongo Ismaiel of the Idabato local council kidnapped since the Ist of October are hanging in the balance calling for prompt intervention.
The family of the DO in total distress is appealing for help from well-wishers to bail the victims out.
In a heart breaking video circulating on social media, the DO is seen wailing in agony and APPEALING FOR HELP against inhuman treatment he is receiving from the Nigerian abductors, threatening to take away his life should the requested ransom not provided.
The abductors are requesting for over 1.9 billion fcfa, reports say.
“ Please my brothers and sisters help, contribute the money they are requesting and send or else they will kill me,” Ewane cried out in the video.
Unfortunately the government has been silent over the disturbing situation. The wife of the DO is quoted as saying her encounter with the governor of the SW region for prompt intervention yielded no fruits.
“ The governor told me the state does not negotiate with terrorists,” Madame Ewane Roland said in an interview with CANAL 2.
It should be recalled that the Divisional Officer (D.O.) of Idabato, Ewane Roland, was kidnapped around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, along with a senior staff member of the Idabato Council, Etongo Ismaiel.
According to local authorities, the abductors, reportedly Nigerian separatists, arrived on boats and fled with their hostages toward the Nigerian border. The area has seen a rise in pirate activities in recent past.
Two weeks after the abduction, the Nigerian terrorist group Dragon fighters marine in a facebook post claimed responsibility.
The video circulating is the first public appearance of the abducted DO.
