The Senior Divisional Officer for KupeMuanenguba, Ekema William Mungambo has officially inaugurated the Summa Cum Laude (Sango Madiba) Information and Learning Resource Centre in Ekol-Muebah-Nninong, Bangem. The official inauguration took place Saturday December 21, 2024 in the presence of traditional and church leaders and the population in and out of the area .
According to the SDO the Center is a wonderful gift to the people of KupeMuanenguba that need to be harnessed and sustainably used.
“ This is the first time we are having such a learning institution in KupeMuanenguba. You can find everything here for learning from tourism to agriculture. This is going to serve generation to come, so we have to project and preserve it, “ Mungambo said.
For Dr Abwe Diabe Ephriam, the initiator of the project, the Summa Cum Laude(Sango Madiba) Information and Learning Resource Centre in Ekol-Muebah-Nninong is all about educating the community, promoting innovation, promoting research but even more important promoting community transformation.
“In a place that has known some form of violence in the past with the Anglophone crisis, with this area being one of the hot spots, it was important to invest in the type of learning and peace building project now that life has returned to normal. With the return of peace we want to encourage our children to begin going back to school, develop a reading culture, participate in all activities and link up with the rest of the world, not just Bangem and Cameroon but globally via the state of the art multi-media unit of the centre, “ he said.
According to the head of the organizing committee of the official inauguration retire colonel Sone Ajang Joseph, it has been a huge success thanks to the dedication and commitment of the team.
“ We are glad that the work of the organizing committee has paid off and the ceremony has been very successful,” Sone Ajang said.
For the youths in Nninong the Center is a welcome asset the will spur development, create employment for some youths .
“ We are glad that our brother and father thought of this type of project that encourages learning and promotes our culture,” say EkweMbue Valintine Youth affairs coordinator Nninong.
Nestled in the serene hills some four KM from Muanenguba Bowl and Twin lakes in Bangem Sub Division,the Centre has a story to tell.
Once touched by the Cameroon Anglophone Crisis, the community faced challenges that disrupted daily life, including the education of our young ones. Thus the Centre is helping to bring back life in the community.
“ The Information and Learning Resources Centre is more than just a building, it’s a symbol of hope, unity, growth, and multi-dimensional prosperity. It’s where ideas are nurtured, shared; cultures celebrated, and bridges built —literally and figuratively, the initiators of the project notes.
With the support of His Royal Highness, the “Kiong-Mbaah “ of Nninong and Administrative Authorities, the Centre aims to showcase the vibrant cultural diversity and rich touristic potential of Muebah-Nninong, and Bangem Sub Division as a whole.
Men, women, boys and girls from all over the world, are enjoined to explore, learn, and grow the sanctuary of knowledge and peace.
