Int’l women’s day Celebration: SW MINAC Boss shows Benevolence to Hemodialysis Patients

The South West Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture Madame Itoe Doris Angoula  led a delegation of humanitarian visitors to the hemodialysis center of the Buea regional hospital to share, pray and encourage the patients that the delegation cares for them as part of activities to commemorate the International Day of Women, 2025.

The humanitarian visit carried out on Wednesday march 5 underscores the delegate’s unwavering commitment to use culture and arts as tools through which all can achieve quality and equitable health care.

During the visit, the delegate interacted with the patients and nurses gaining valuable insight into the challenges the center and patients face.

In all twenty interactions with the patients madam Itoe encouraged the patients to stay resilient and hopeful that their health challenges will be restored

While saluting the great job the medical staff are doing to put back the patients on their feet, she also urged them to intensify the health care provided to the patients. She reiterated that the gift provided the patients is small but symbolic. “The international women’s day is just around the corner and we know that the day involves a lot of festivities so we thought of reaching out to our brothers and sisters here at the center so that they too can see reasons to celebrate that day,” she said.

“the ministry of arts and culture has the mission to promote, protect and valorize our rich and diverse cultures; so we at the regional delegation want to use culture to promote social cohesion and living together because we know that the patients at the center are not just from the South West or North West but from other regions and ethnic groups” the delegate resonated.

Mme. Munge Judith a nurse at the hemodialysis center saluted the kind gesture on behalf of the director general stating that it will serve as a sign of relieve to their patients who often time find difficulties purchasing their drugs,

Mr. Adamu Shey  diagnosed of kidney problem since 2012 said that that he often times find financial difficulties leaving Ekata for regular checkup at the center but with the support given by the regional delegate, it will go a long way to help him purchase basic necessities like drugs while adding other challenges “ I also have spine problem I am supposed to take six injection per week one costing twenty thousand francs,(20,000)”.

Mme. Dione Delphine Sumelong diagnosed of too much malaria and typhoid in her system was favored by madam the delegate in a special way. “I want to thank the delegate for asking me to come continue sewing at the regional delegate. Before I fell ill, I was a seamstress in the course of discuss with the delegate I told her I am a seamstress and she  told  that I should  come and start work at the regional delegation. I am so eager to get well very soon. This visit this day is really a blessing to me,”

Hemodialysis is a medical treatment that filters waste products and excess fluids from the blood when the kidneys are no longer able to perform this function. The life sustaining treatment is relevant for individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or acute kidney injury. There exists in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis and nocturnal hemodialysis
