The construction company, BIR is tirelessly carrying on with works to meet deadline. According to information from the field, the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR teams are at work on the stretch of road to facilitate trade between Kupe-Muanenguba, Meme and Manyu divisions. The road will optimize connections with Littoral region and the neighbouring country (Nigeria). Moreover, the support of the local population for the project plays a vital role to ease work progress, despite security constraints in the project area. It should be noted that a task force was set up by the Minister of Public Works to support the teams of the Rapid Intervention Battalion.  Both entities are working in close collaboration, in order to smoothly carry out the works, under direct labour. The scope of the work already completed in the preparatory phase is as follows: the topographical and geotechnical studies had been completed for the first ten (10) kilometres, and samples taken are being analysed in a laboratory. Foundation layer from between kilometre point 0+900 and kilometre point 4+250, construction of 80% of the living quarters at kilometre point 4+000 has been completed, while earthworks from kilometre point 0+500 to kilometre point 8+000 and the construction of a 3 x 2 x 19 LM culvet at kilometre point 0+893 equally completed.  The excavation materials has been deposited right up to the platform level from kilometre point 0+900 to kilometer point 7+950, construction of a masonry pit, length 2000ml flowed by a drainage from kilometer point 1+3000 to kilometer point 1+600 and lastly the creation of an outlet between kilometer point 0+893 and kilometer point 4+000, all the above has been completed.

The aims of these rapid advancement to reduced traffic conjunction in that area by doing that some difficulties were encountered notably the compensation of victims houses, plantations along kilometer point 0+00, the absence of an no-sit geotechnical laboratory for sample  analysis and to limit waiting times from the Yaounde laboratories; Local residents’ reluctance regarding the masonry ditches currently being constructed and the desired concrete gutters; the presence of certain houses within the construction area; Lack of adequate means of transportation for closely monitoring the work (DDTP-Bangem vehicle, outdated and under load); Problems related to network relocation (ENEO) focus on opening the parking lot from start to finish, to ensure the mobility of goods and people; means to deploy an additional team to accelerate this work before intense rains arrive.
