
PM Dion Ngute inaugurates Bamenda-Babadjou road.
The Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has officially inaugurated the newly constructed Bamenda –Babadjou road and launched the construction of the 6.2km Bamenda Urban Crossing on Wednesday 17th September 2025.
The road construction work that has suffered delays , insecurity, and inflated costs, is touted by the government as a major step toward easing transport challenges and fostering regional integration.
The PM who was received at Matazem with an inspected an honor guard before cutting the ribbon on the 35km road linking the West Region to Bamenda.
The PM was later received at the NW regional house of Assembly for a working session where several ongoing projects were presented.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said the new infrastructure will “boost trade, reduce costs for goods, and improve access to markets for farmers and families in the Northwest.”
He also inaugurated the Mile 4 bridge, visited C2D-funded projects, and laid the foundation stone for a new administrative block at the Mile 4 market.
Bamenda city dwellers have described the commissioning as a “significant step” toward both economic recovery and peace in the conflict-ridden Northwest.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation of the road at Veterinary junction.
Joseph Dion Ngute also visited other road infrastructure projects in Bamenda, including the inspection of the Ecole Des Champions- Amour Mezam stretch which is 54% gone.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the administrative bloc of the Mile 4 market, the official reception of the Mile 4 bridge which has been a nightmare to students and denizens, forced to stay on either side of the bridge when it rains.
The visit of Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute to Bamenda comes exactly two months after his previous visit where he chaired the 7th steering committee meeting of the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development, PPRD
