The 8th edition of the Bakossi Bajoh Women Cultural and Development Association, BABAWOCUDA took place at the CERUT premises in Limbe 14 February, 2026 with great success.
The Limbe come together provided the opportunity for the association to re-launch its activities and plan for future development action.
The gathering which coincided with celebration of St Valintine’s Day symbolizes the love and unity among BAJOH women, they said.
According reports the Limbe general assembly was very successful with virtually all the different BABAWOCUDA branches of Elambeng, Ebase, Elah,Timber-road, Epen, Momboh, Bangem, Kumba Limbe, Buea and Yaounde in attendance.
According to the President, BABAWOCUDA amongst other activities has over the years promoted the empowerment of the Bakossi Bajoh women and the girl children through workshops, conferences.
“ BAWOCUDA has been empowering especially grassroot women, organizing workshops to educate them as well as providing assistance and farm tools to help improve their living standards. We have also been very active in bringing back peace through sensitization of the youths in the Bajoh community in particular and Bangem in general,” she said.
She added that the development of BAJOH community in particular was a major concern of the association, especially the worrying issue of roads.
The elective general Assembly also saw the unanimous re-election of Prof. Betty Best Mesame Mwene as the National President.
Madam Nzoungandembou was also elected as the new treasurer of the association.
Talking to the press, Prof Betty Best expressed satisfaction with the deliberations and the outcome of the assembly. She called on the women to uphold the tenets of the association, especially respect of the constitution or by-laws.
Cultural display and traditional dances animated the event.
The next general assembly will be taking place in ELAH village, it was announced.
