The first edition of the Agritech Innovation Challenge in Cameroon has been launched. The challenge, a competition to select the best innovative agriculture technology was presented during a joint press briefing on July 17, 2024 at Hilton Hotel Yaoundé, by the Ministers of Posts and Telecoms, Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries, Livestock and Animal Industries accompanied by the minister of professional training .
The competition, supported by the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project in Cameroon (Patnuc), the authorities said, aims at selecting, rewarding and promoting the 10 best agritechs, offering innovative digital solutions with high impact in the agro-pastoral sector in Cameroon. The project accordingly has been funded by the World Bank.
As part of the competition,a regional pre-selections will be organized in the second half of August 2024 in the following cities:
Bafoussam for candidates from the West and North-West, Ebolowa for candidates from the Center, South and East, Garoua for candidates from the north (Adamaoua, North and Far North), Limbe for candidates from the Littoral and South-West.
At the end of these regional events, a national final will be organized in Yaoundé under the same Tech and Business format.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, declared that the competition provides an excellent opportunity for potential candidates to showcase their talents and ingenuity in digital transformation in areas of agriculture, livestock, forests and fishing.
“ We have ensured that everything will be very transparent with equal opportunities and only the best will be selected,” the Minister assured.
The best project will win the sum of 40 million FCFA.
