The Mayor of Bangem Council , winner of the CENPA 2024 “ Best Community Development and people centered Award has dedicated the achievement to the people of Bangem.
Mayor Ekungwe Christopher made the dedication on Saturday July 5, 2025 after receiving the Cameroon English Newspaper Publishers Association, CENPA achievement award at Mountain Hotel in Buea.
“I think that if not for the collaboration of the people Bangem and our elite home and abroad, we will not be able to achieve anything. They have been very collaborative and that is why I will like to thank and dedicate this award to them,” he said .
Awarded as “Winner, 2024 Best Community Development and People Centered Campion”, Cameroon English Language Publishers Association, CENPA attributes the recognition to the fact that the Mayor was able to surmount “growing security challenges and gradually transforming the Bangem municipality to improve the livelihood of the population.”
The Bangem Mayor saluted the encouragement by the media that has been very observant and collaborative in reporting development events of the municipality. He promised to continue driving the development aspiration of the people of Bangem.
“We will continued with our development extension projects which are very important for our people, continue with maintaining and opening of new roads, build bridges, assisting the youth, women and persons with disabilities and a good number of things. I think that one of the biggest things we are achieving in this municipality is the constant change in mindset with our people both at home and abroad understanding that development is participatory efforts. This is very important for us and we hope to do a lot more with this new mindset. I encourage our brothers and sisters to continue in this development spirit to make Bangem become a GREAT city in the future” Mayor Ekungwe said.
