CENCUDER assist Mbogmut-Community drive development projects .

 The people of Mbwogmut , Bangem subdivision are pushing their own development with the construction of bridges and farm to market roads to facilitate the transportation of their goods. The community is currently working on a bridge construction project to facilitate communication and movement that was hitherto a nightmare.The project is an initiative of the Centre for Community Development and Environmental Restoration (CENCUDER) based in Sandpit Buea, headed by a son of the community, Kwangene Princely. According to Kwangene,the project is to build a bridge over the Ngwassa stream to permit free circulation of the peasant farmers of the entire central Mbwogmut clan. The project that started in early January is expected to be completed by May,2024. “The local community is quite supportive of the project providing local materials land, timber,sand and unskilled labour. We are quite appreciative of the enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated by the local community to see the project comes to fruition ” the CEO of CENCUDER, Kwangene told Eco OUTLOOK.
It should be recalled that this is the second bridge construction project initiated and realized by CENCUDER with assistance from the local community. The first was a foot bridge over river Ebeh, realised in 2022.

Sons and daughters from Kupemuanenguba have commended the efforts by CENCUDER and Mbwogmut community to take the bull by the horn to drive their own development .
Reacting to the self development initiative in the Bangem Development Forum the Mbwogmut Special duty mayor Ekome,said “Mbwogmut illustrious Sons are turning valleys into bridges. No one wipes your face for you in the morning. You do it first before expecting help from others.” Nkong Makoge congratulated the efforts which he said comes to add to other similar initiatives undertaken by local communities in Kupemuanenguba, citing the case of MUAN’NGEH Community in Nninong.

The enclaved nature of Mbwogmut -Bangem, a resource rich community, is call for concern to development actors.

“Let no one be deceived, no meaningful development can be ensured without the people taking the destiny of their advancement into their own hands first and over above all else,” he said.

” Action! Taking the bull by the horns! Great example for other communities to emulate,” says Nnane Ivo Palle.
