In just two weeks the city of Buea will be bustling with cultural activities including traditional dances, cuisine, arts and craft, relics and artifacts and a pool of the rich cultural endowment from the six divisions of the Southwest region, KupeMuanenguba, Fako, Meme, Ndian, Manyu, Lebialem .
This is the first time the distinctive traditional wealth of the six divisions will be featuring at a common cultural jamboree, the Southwest Cultural Festival.
According to the President of the Southwest Chiesf Conference, SWEEC , Chief Obenofunde Moses,the two days event will be an unforgettable celebration of peace, cultural revival, social cohesion, and investment promotion.
At the festival, visitors from far and near will have the opportunity to join in a cultural exchange program, singing, dancing, feasting with the people of the Southwest known for their legendary hospitality, performing traditional rites and showcases skills in arts and craft. Lovers of traditional music will have the opportunity to savor the rich, vibrant rhythms and sounds from the region. What better way to experience and learn from the many cultures that make up beautiful and culturally rich region.
Each division of the Southwest has a rich cultural package coming from their varied ethnic groups.
Each ethnic group has its own unique culture with distinctive cultural traits have been jealously preserved and promoted over the years.
Experts say cultural exchange events like this play a key role in preserving and spreading the unique cultural values of the Cameroon people.
Held under the distinguished patronage of the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, the two-day festival will among other things, showcase the rich cultural heritage and vibrant way of life of the Southwest people.
