
Chief Njieh Mbonde brandishes broom , after designation as chief of Bokwango
Albert Njie Mbonde, a renowned journalist and political desk editor at CRTV has been designated the new chief of Bokwaongo, a third-class chiefdom in Buea, Fako Division of the South West. He was elected to mount the chieftain stool following a consultative talk on March 19, 2025.
He was chosen today, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, during a consultative meeting at Government School Bokwaongo in Buea.
Four out of six kingmakers validated his selection as the new Chief of Bokwaongo village.
The Divisional Officer for Buea urged him to revive the custom and tradition of the village and to be a peace ambassador and father figure to the community.
As chief, Njie Mbonde is expected to assist in guiding his people, transmitting administrative directives, and ensuring their implementation.
Njie Mbonde expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him and plans to improve the village’s water and electricity supply, as well as provide employment opportunities for the youth.
He also commended the population for remaining peaceful and law-abiding despite the current sociopolitical upheavals.
As a renowned journalist, Njie Mbonde has received several awards for his work, including the Best Radio Journalist Award from the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association.
His experience and reputation will likely serve him well in his new role as chief.
