The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, NCPBM held its first biannual session for 2025 on January 31, at the Congress Center.
The session that was presided over by NCPBM President Peter Mafany Musonge, saw the adoption of the 20245 budget of the institution. The ceremony ended up with presentation of new year wishes to the boss Peter Mafany Musonge.
In his address Peter MAFANY Musonge noted that 2025 was special for the institution in particular and Cameroonians in general given the country’s political stakes.
It should be noted that the first biannual session was dedicated to adopting the budget of the institution for the current year.
With the presidential election to hold this year, coupled with regional elections, the President of the bilingualism commission announced the institution had a lot of work to do, calling on its members to be ready to stand to the challenge.
2025 Budget
The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) will run on a budget of 3,498,000,000 FCFA ( three billion, four hundred and ninety-eight million) in 2025.
This accordingly represents an increase of 440 million FCFA from the previous budget.
According to Peter Mafany Musonge, 2,978,000,000 FCFA ( two billion, nine hundred and seventy-eight million) will be allocated for operational costs, while 520,000,000 FCFA ( five hundred and twenty million) will be dedicated to investment purposes.
The budget he said was prepared in conformity with the provisions of Article 12 of Decree No. 2017/013 of January 23, 2017, which governs the creation, organization, and functioning of the NCPBM.
“ It also adheres to the calendar established by Decree No. 2019/281 of May 31, 2019, which fixes the state budget calendar,” he said.
In 2025, the NCPBM plans to allocate 200 million FCFA to strengthen human resources and enhance the functioning of its regional branches. The commission’s plan of action for 2025 played a significant role in crafting the budget.
During the biannual meeting, President Peter Mafany Musonge emphasized the commission’s commitment to responsible budget management, stating that the NCPBM is dedicated to “respecting the strategic orientations and the measures to rationalize public spending, in order to give the principle of optimization of resources the place it deserves in budget management.”
The meeting paid homage to one of theirs, the late Abouem a Tchoyi David who passed away on January 15, 2025 after a malaise at the age of 81.
